Tenacious D - What Went Wrong?

The long-in-the-making, widely anticipated Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny is projected to have only taken in $5.4 million in its extra-long Thanksgiving weekend release, barely making 10th place, and it's currently holding a not so solid 52% on Rotten Tomatoes, which officially means 52 audience members have been driven to throw squishy green fruit at the screen while it was playing. Is the duo out of juice? Was it marketed incorrectly? Does America just not get it? In your opinion, what went wrong?
